When the Purple Settles

Author: Francis Tanglao-Aguas

There are plays that entertain and plays that educate, when the purple settles by Francis Tanglao-Aguas happily does both and more: it disturbs. It harks back to medieval theater, but also looks forward, interweaving reality and fiction, jumbling up past and present, breaking conventions of dramaturgy, and through it all, challenging its audience to re/think and re/act. Pastiche, puns, ang parody it is--but the play is never merely playful.
